Ingredients:
- 500 grams of minced mutton (keema)
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup green peas (optional)
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Wash the minced mutton thoroughly and drain the excess water.
- Finely chop the onions, tomatoes, and green chilies.
- Keep all the spices ready.
- Cooking:
- Heat oil or ghee in a large pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2-3 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add finely chopped green chilies and tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes until the oil starts to separate from the masala.
- Add the minced mutton to the pan. Stir well to combine the mutton with the masala. Cook on medium-high heat until the mutton changes color and starts to brown.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
- If using green peas, add them at this stage. Mix well and cover the pan. Cook on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mutton is cooked through and tender.
- Once the mutton is cooked, sprinkle garam masala on top and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serving:
- Serve hot with naan, roti, paratha, or steamed rice.
- Squeeze some lemon juice on top for added flavor.
